The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is now conducting an investigation to identify and hold responsible the driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in what It described as a possible case of another road rage, this time, at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
LTO chief Asst. Sec. Vigor D. Mendoza said he already instructed the agency’s regional director in Central Luzon to immediately issue a Show Cause Order (SCO) against the registered owner of a black Toyota Fortuner with conduction sticker Z7N788 as part of the investigation.
In a viral video and a post regarding the incident that reportedly happened on Feb. 16, the SUV was seen turning around after it hit a Hyudani Eon and even maneuvering near the vehicle it damaged before speeding off.
Witnesses said the driver of the Hyundai Eon was a male senior citizen and while there were suggestions to block the SUV, the motorcycle riders expressed fear that the driver would deliberately hit them.
In a separate Facebook post, the granddaughter of the victim was appealing for help to identify the driver of the SUV.
Mendoza, for his part, said that there were violations committed based on the viral video.
“What the SUV did was unacceptable because after the accident, he appeared to have disregarded his responsibility,” said Mendoza.
But he said the investigation that would be conducted is also aimed at getting the entire picture of what really happened.
Mendoza, however, said that he expects the LTO-Central Luzon to put the SUV under alarm.
He also directed the LTO-Central Luzon to coordinate with the family as part of the conduct of the investigation.
“With the information relayed by the witnesses, we will be able to immediately initiate actions against the registered owner and the driver of this vehicle,” said Mendoza.
