Born Feb. 17, 1985, Anne Curtis celebrates her 39th birthday with an album of photos shot by photographer BJ Pascual. “Birthday ko? Barefaced birthday. Thank you for all the warmest greetings,” she posted on her Instagram account.
Tagging her makeup artist Robbie Piñera in the post, we couldn’t help but ask why—if it’s a bareface photo shoot afterall. Robbie shares the magic he used for Anne’s stunning au naturelle look.
“Anne loves a facial massage so we did a lymphatic drainage massage with my favorite facial oil. Then a translucent lip balm, a little bit of eye curler, and brushed up brows. That’s it. Bare and simple. I do this every time we have a shoot. This is how I prep her face for make up,” he tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle.
Of course, we wanted to get more details, so we asked for the products used. “I use La Mer Facial Oil most of the time. For the lips, I used blk cosmetics Lip Universal Color Adapt Balm, then, for the brows, I used blk cosmetics Brow Lock Clear Gel Mascara.”
And how does one do the massage? “I just use my own hands and finish with a gua sha. I learned this facial technique in New York City from Face Gym. It really does the trick to drain out water retention on the face, promotes good blood circulation, and it just gives you this well-rested natural glow afterwards. I’ve been doing it for years now,” shares Robbie, who adds that you do this “before putting makeup on, before you apply your primer and base.”
Speaking off, Anne is giving 20 percent off on her makeup line, blk cosmetics, for all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) only today, Feb. 17, 2024.
