“Both the NIA and the contractor are now conducting a thorough investigation to prevent the same accident from happening again,” said NIA-6 PMO in a statement released on Friday, February 16.
Water tank driver Jose Javier died after he was pinned by the vehicle that lost its brakes while maneuvering a downhill road in Barangay Agcalaga on Thursday, February 15.
Slightly injured was Ernesto Dolorosa, a safety officer for South Korean contractor Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd.
“The office is presently coordinating with the contractor regarding assistance they may provide to the family of their employee. Meanwhile, the safety officer who was the passenger of the said truck may be discharged from the hospital today after he sustained minor injuries,” NIA-6 said.
“The PMO implores the public to continue praying for the safety and welfare of the people who are diligently working to implement the project,” NIA-6 added.
