Deputy Majority Leader Iloilo 1st district Rep. Janette Garin says the Senate should show sincerity with its declaration of a "ceasefire" with the House of Representatives.
Garin was referring to Senate President Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri's remarks Wednesday. Feb. 14 wherein he said the Senate was inclined to put a stop to the word war between the two co-equal legislative chambers.
“The Senate should walk the talk with due courtesy on them," Garin said in a press conference the following day.
“Minsan kasi sa Senado nako-confuse ka eh. Kung 'yung napag-uusapan ba ay naka-cascade dun sa mga miyembro because that's how leadership should be," said the lady solon.
(The Senate can be confusing sometimes. We're not sure if the orders get cascaded to the members because that's how leadership should be.)
During the past few weeks, House members and senators have gone back-and-forth on Cha-cha and the recent People Initiative (PI), which can bypass the solons. These exchanges between the lawmakers have even bordered on the unparliamentary.

At any rate, Garin praised Zubiri for making the ceasefire declaration. She also said its a positive development that he and House Speaker Martin Romualdez have recently met personally.
"Maganda yun na nagkausap na si Speaker at 'yung ating Senate President, at nanggaling din naman sa Senado yung kanilang timeline na by March e matatapos ito," Garin said, referring to Resolution of Both Houses (RBH) No.6.
A measure pending in the Senate, RBH No.6 seeks to create a Constituent Assembly (Con-Ass) for the purpose of amending the restrictive economic provisions in the 1987 Constitution.
