To get updates on the pilot implementation of the revised curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 10 or the MATATAG Curriculum, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Friday, Feb. 16, organized a national summit for the implementing schools.
Led by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte, the national summit welcomed participants from 35 pilot schools in seven participating regions as well as other guests.

“It has been six months, going on seven months, since we started to pilot the MATATAG curriculum in your schools,” said DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching Gina Gonong during the National Summit of the MATATAG Curriculum Pilot Implementers held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.
“Today’s summit is a sharing of experiences, a sharing not only about your challenges but also about your best practices so others can learn from you,” Gonong said. “We will listen to plans of other strands to support the pilot schools,” she added.
The Summit, Gonong said, was also a venue to share expertise since research partners talked about their research and some updates. “Understanding the research, we hope, will make you more comfortable participants in the research process,” she explained.
The MATATAG Curriculum is currently being piloted in the following schools:
For her part, Duterte underscored the need for cooperation and collaboration for the successful phased implementation of the MATATAG curriculum beginning School Year (SY) 2024-2025.

“We need to work together to enable the successful teaching and learning of the MATATAG curriculum,” Duterte said in her remarks.
“Simply put, we need to implement the curriculum well. We need to remind everyone to work together,” she added.
