The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, Feb. 16 said it observed a significant decrease in influenza-like illness (ILI) cases across the Philippines, and is anticipated to plateau over the next month.

In its latest data, a total of 16,155 ILI cases were reported from Jan. 1 to Feb. 3, showing a decline of 19 percent compared to 19,935 ILI cases reported in the same period.
However, nine deaths have been recorded from Jan. 1 to Feb. 3, resulting in a case fatality rate (CFR) of 0.06 percent for 2024.
Meanwhile, DOH revealed that Region I, IV-B, XII, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao showed a case increase from Jan. 7 to 20, reporting 266 to 967 new cases in the last four weeks.
In line with these, the health department urged the public to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures, including wearing masks, ensuring adequate ventilation, and receiving vaccinations.
It emphasized the importance of individual self-assessment, recommended isolation when sick, and encouraged the public to get vaccinated and boosted to enhance protection against infection or severe disease.
