In her Valentine’s Day message on Wednesday, Feb. 14, the official said that it is a good time to start a culture of understanding and cooperation among Filipinos.
“This time of year presents us with an incredible opportunity to unify as a country, promoting an atmosphere of mutual understanding and cooperation,” she said.
“If we face our national challenges with an attitude of love, compassion, and unity, we create a hospitable environment for dialogue, cooperation, and breakthrough solutions,” Duterte added.
The official asked that commemoration of the “season of love” should not be confined to exchanging flowers and chocolates, but that it should “expand our hearts to encompass love for our nation as well.“
But this “profound love” for country should also propel Filipinos to contribute to community projects and work tirelessly for a “brighter future” for the youth, Duterte said.
“May love serve as the driving force that inspires us to establish a nation rooted in justice, equality, and compassion. Above all, let our love for our beloved Philippines motivate us in our collective efforts towards a brighter, more inclusive future.”
Duterte expressed hope that love for country will reign amid all the challenges the country faces.
