House Deputy Speaker Cebu 5th district Rep. Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco has had enough of the abominable traffic in his beloved Metro Cebu.
It's for this reason that he penned and filed House Resolution (HR) No.1592, which directed the House Committees on Transportation and Good Government and Public Accountability to conduct an investigation on the traffic crisis in Cebu City.
More importantly, the proposed House probe intends to find solutions to this massive headache for Cebuanos.
In HR No.1592, Frasco notes that Metro Cebu is the second fastest growing metropolitan area in the country. He said that it has played an increasingly significant role in the industrial, commercial, and financial development of both Visayas and Mindanao.
But Metro Cebu's economic growth and swelling population have taken a toll on the traffic situation, the deputy speaker said.
He cited an earlier study conducted by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2018, which said that the traffic congestion caused an estimated P1.1 billion in economic losses per day.
Frasco said he sees the need to study the traffic situation in Metro Cebu and revisit the existing transportation and development policies and projects being implemented there in order to truly resolve the problem.
