Major Gen. Marion Sison of the 3rd Infantry Division and Police Major Gen. Robert Rodriquez of the PNP Area Police Command-Visayas met this week to discuss the matter.
Sison hosted Rodriquez in Camp Peralta, the 3rd ID headquarters in Jamindan, Capiz, tackled internal security in the three regions of the Visayas – Western, Central, and Eastern.
The APC-Visayas which covers police regional offices in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas has a mandate to orchestrate and supervise inter-regional operations against insurgency, terrorism, and other internal security threats.
Sison and Rodriquez vowed that the army and the police will coordinate with each other especially against communist insurgency, particularly in Negros Island that still has New People’s Army rebels.
“The conditions of a state of stable internal peace and security have been met in Negros Island and can now be formally declared by our concerned local chief executives,” said Sison.
“These areas can attract new investments, generate jobs for our people, improve their well-being, and provide opportunities to help our people realize their hopes and dreams for their families and future generations.”
Also present during the meeting were 3rd ID Assistant Division Commander Brig. Gen. Leonardo Peña, Chief of Staff Col. Melencio Ragudo, and Division Inspector General Col. Nhel Richard Patricio.
