A night of OSTs, electrifying music at Luvcon 2024 concert in Manila

Thai artists celebrated Valentine’s season in Manila in a night of enchanting and electrifying music with Filipino fans. 

The Luvcon 2024 concert in Manila was held on Feb. 10 at the SM North EDSA Skydome featuring Thai singers Tilly Birds, Boss Chaikamon, Boy Sompob, Three Man Down and Tale.

In the last two years, there has been a surge of Thai celebrities in the Philippines who visited the country for concerts and fan meetings. 

For about six hours at Luvcon 2024, the five Thai artists enthralled fans with 70 songs including a selection of Filipino songs.

Falling in Love with Tale

Thai alternative pop duo Tale (เทล), composed of Ponjang and Tanthai, started the Luvcon 2024 concert. They debuted under the name Ampersand in 2019 and later changed their name to Tale. 

Luvcon 2024 was Tale’s first show abroad and the two musicians thanked Filipino fans for the warm welcome.

Thai duo Tale (Jonathan Hicap)

“Our first gig abroad in the beautiful philippines! So grateful for the valuable opportunity. It was a dream come true to us. Thank you, Manila, for the warm welcome,” Tale posted on Instagram. 

Their setlist consisted of Thai, English and Filipino song. They impressed the audience when they performed “Sana” by I Belong to the Zoo and “Imahe” by Magnus Haven. 

“Funny part is.. we didn’t realise that the @wishusluckent  team recommended the difficult songs to us, since we thought Filipinos are all good at singing. So we didn’t ask for any easier options. But glad we eventually did it,” Tale posted on X. 

Tale also performed Sza’s “Kill Bill,” Troye Sivan’s “Angel Baby” and Taylor Swift’s “Style” and “Cruel Summer.” 

After the show, Tale said their Manila gig “was one of the best nights ever.”

“Had so much fun at #LUVCON2024. Appreciate every unexpected love and support! You guys are amazing. Salamat po [Thank you]. It was one of the best nights ever. Thanks for taking us all the way there @wishusluckent,” Tale posted on X.

A night of OSTs with Boy Sompob 

Singer Boy Sompob (บอย สมภพ) is well-known among fans of Thai BL (boys’ love) dramas for his rendition of OSTs (original soundtracks). 

He is known for his OSTs such as “Cry for the Star” (for the Thai series “Absolute Zero”), “Shake” ("Love Sick The Series"), “Until We Meet Again” ("Until We Meet Again") and “Wish” (“Love By Chance”). 

Boy Sompob started his set with “Shake” from the "Love Sick The Series" followed by “Wish” and “Wish from “Love By Chance.”

Thai singer Boy Sompob (Jonathan Hicap)

He was overwhelmed by the cheers from the audience that he cried when he started singing “The Luckiest Boy” from the series “Until We Meet Again.” 

He also performed  Filipino singer Zack Tabudlo's “Give Me Your Forever.”

“Thank you so much, Manila. I will never forget this moment forever. I became the luckiest boy that night,” posted Boy Sompob on X. 

On Instagram, he wrote, “Maraming Salamat sa isa sa hindi ko malilimutang gabi (Thank you for this unforgettable night). You make me feel like I'm the luckiest boy in the world. I Love you Manila, I wish I can come back again.”

Boss Chaikamon charms fans 

Thai actor and singer Boss Chaikamon (บอส ชัยกมล เสริมส่งวิทยะ)  is known for the BL series “Love in the Air,” which aired in 2022. He also recorded the song “My Strongest Love” for “Love in the Air.”

“I am very happy to be here. I am very [excited] because this is the first time,” he said at Luvcon 2024. 

Among the songs he performed at the concert were BTS member Jungkook’s “Seven (feat. Latto) and Tabudlo’s “Pano.”

Thail alternative band Tilly Birds (ทิลลี่เบิร์ด),  composed of Third (Anuroth Ketlekha) Billy (Nutdanai Chuchat, and Milo (Thuwanon Tantiwattanaworakul), became the final act at Luvcon 2024. 

They are known for the songs "Same Page," which has 198 million views on YouTube, and "Just Being Friendly (feat. Milli)," which garnered 200 million views on Gene Lab’s YouTube account.

“We're a bunch of music nerds with totally assorted musical backgrounds born and raised in Bangkok, our hometown,” Tilly Birds described themselves on their website. 

At Luvcon 2024, they performed 19 songs including “Bangkok Winter,” “I Need No One,” “Same Page” and “Just Being Friendly.”
