The Parañaque City government and the Overseas Workers Welfare and Administration (OWWA) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) aimed at establishing a help desk for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the city.
Mayor Eric Olivarez and City Administrator Atty. Voltaire dela Cruz represented the city government during the signing of the MOA with OWWA Administrator Arnaldo “Arnel” Ignacio held at the Session of Hall at the Legislative Building on Feb. 14.
Olivarez said the MOA will help establish an OWWA Help Desk inside the office of Public Employment Services Office located at the 4th floor of Parañaque City Hall
He said OFWs do not need to travel to the OWWA office in Pasay City for inquiries, related concerns, and guidance.
The mayor thanked Ignacio for the establishment of the OWWA help desk in the city as it will help the 34,000 OFWs in the city on the OWWA’s programs and services.
After the MOA signing, Olivarez and Ignacio led the distribution of checks amounting to P20,000 each to 21 OFW beneficiaries.
Olivarez said the checks were part of the livelihood assistance given to returning OFWs through OWWA's “Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay” program to start their own businesses.
