Over 1,000 couples in Caloocan City exchanged vows to express their love and commitment to each other during a mass wedding in the city on Valentine's Day.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan officiated the Kasalang Bayan for the couples held at the Caloocan City Sports Complex on Wednesday.
“Congratulations po sa lahat ng mga bagong kasal ngayong araw! Sana ay maging maganda at maluwalhati ang inyong pagsasama sa araw-araw at tandaan po ninyo na hindi biro ang pinasok niyo kaya sana po ay mapanatili niyo ang pagmamahal at pagsuporta sa inyong mga katuwang sa buhay (Congratulations to all the newlyweds today! I hope that your marriage will be beautiful and glorious every day, and remember that what you entered is not a joke so I hope that you will maintain the love and support of your partners in life),” Mayor Along said.
He also assured the couples that the city government will continue to support them through different projects as they start an new chapter in their lives and build their own families.
"Mula sa pagsilang hanggang sa kanilang paglaki, nakahanda po ang mga proyekto at programa natin upang tulungan kayong bigyan ng magandang bukas ang inyong mga anak at makabuo ng isang masayang pamilya na magbibigay ng kalinga sa kanila (From birth to their growth, our projects and programs are ready to help you give your children a bright future and build a happy family that will protect them),” he added.
The activity is part of the city's 62nd Cityhood Anniversary that will be celebrated on Feb. 16.
