Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva should be humble enough to realize that his words can hurt his fellow lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
Lanao del Sur 1st district Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong had this to say in his Valentine's Day message for Villanueva, whose recent rant about congressmen being not comparable to senators have earned him the ire of the lower chamber.
“Since we are celebrating Valentine's Day this February, I hope he (Villanueva) would be more, you know, more humble enough to, humble enough to realize that your words can cut deeper than swords," Adiong said in a press briefing Tuesday, Feb. 13.
"And so I would like to, probably my message to him is, have a very nice Valentine's Day with your partner,” added the Midnanaoan, his face deadpan.

Villanueva's tirades against congressmen were an offshoot of the House of Representatives and Senate's continued back and forth on the topic of Charter change (Cha-cha).
Adiong said that love should fill the halls of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, especially this February. But love is a two-way street, he said.
"I think we're celebrating every February, we're celebrating love. But love goes two ways. It should not be one way. It should be reciprocated. So love is partnership. Love is humility. Love is about sharing your life with another,” said the member of the "Young Guns" bloc.
"You put that context in the way the legislature is framed under the Constitution. We have two chambers in [Congress], the House of Representatives and the Senate…The balance of that is parliamentary courtesy. Now you may define that as love…That's part of love is respect and humility,” he added.
Villanueva is a former CIBAC Party-list congressman.
