ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Armed Forces-Naval Forces Western Mindanao rescued 78 passengers and seven crew members from a distressed vessel in the sea of Tawi-Tawi on Tuesday, February 13.

Motor launch (ML) Dhielma was sailing for Tawi-Tawi from Tandu Banak, Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi when it encountered engine trouble.
Naval Task Force 61 dispatched coastal patrol craft PC390 to locate the ML Dhielma upon hearing its distress signal.
It established the location of ML Dhielma nine nautical miles southwest of Bakalao Point in Sibutu.
The boat was towed to the Lamion Wharf where its passengers and crew were served hot meals.
They were turned over to the Ministry of Social Services and Development for counseling and stress debriefing and later sent off to their families.
NFWM commander Rear Admiral Donn Anthony Miraflor reminded all seafarers to ensure sea worthiness of their vessels before sailing for the safety of their passengers.
