CEBU CITY – Police seized suspected shabu and marijuana worth more than P100 million in a three-day operation in Central Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) said that 14,796.46 grams of shabu amounting to P110,615,928 and 60 grams of marijuana worth P7,200 were seized from February 8 to 10.
Six-hundred fifty-two persons were arrested for various crimes, 214 for illegal drugs.
With the huge volume of illegal drugs seized, Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin ordered a deeper investigation to determine where these came from.
The bulk of the seized illegal drugs came from an operation conducted by the Regional Drug Enforcement and Regional Intelligence Division in which 10 kilos of shabu worth P68 million was seized from Elmer Saguran inside a cemetery in Barangay Carreta here.
Kilos of shabu were also seized by personnel of the Cebu City Police Office, Mandaue City Police Office, Talisay City Police Station, and various units of the Cebu Provincial Police Office.
Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare, spokesperson of Aberin, said the PRO-7 welcomed the confiscation of the huge amount of illegal drugs.
Pelare said the successful illegal drug operations saved a lot of lives.
The PRO-7 vowed that the campaign against illegal drugs will remain relentless.
“While we recognize that we are still facing a big challenge in our illegal drug campaign in Central Visayas, our commitment under the leadership of Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin is that we are going to conduct more operations, arrest these people down to the last trafficker so that eventually, the supply of illegal drugs in Central Visayas will be stopped,” said Pelare.
Also during the three-day period, 257 persons were arrested in 140 anti-illegal illegal gambling operations.
The PRO-7 also arrested 27 most wanted persons and 130 wanted persons.
