London, United Kingdom - A London theatre on Monday apologized after a stand-up comedian "yelled at" a Jewish audience member to leave when he refused to stand for a Palestinian flag.
The incident occurred during comedian Paul Currie's performance at the Soho Theatre in London's West End on Saturday.
The Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) said that an Israeli man, his partner and a Jewish party-of-four all left following the incident.
One of the Jewish audience members who left told the CAA that people had been encouraged to stand for both the Ukrainian and Palestinian flags at the end of the show.
The Israeli man was then reportedly asked why he did not stand.
The CAA said the comedian "yelled at" the man to leave, while others in the audience shouted "get out" and "free Palestine".
The theatre apologized on Monday, saying: "We take this very seriously and are looking into the detail of what happened as thoroughly, as sensitively, and as quickly as we can.
"We are sorry and saddened," it added.
London police reported at the end of October that anti-Semitic offences in the city had risen by more than 1,350 percent compared to the previous year, following the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas.
