Police identified the victim as Allan Macasling Sr., 55.
Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Toboso police chief, said the victim was tending to his fish pond in front of his house at around 8:10 a.m. when five unidentified persons wearing bonnets arrived.
One of them shot the victim in the head with a .45 caliber pistol after they told his wife that her husband committed an offense. The perpetrators fled on foot and left her unharmed.
Batadlan said they are looking into grudges as possible motive in the incident, since the victim would allegedly reprimand those he caught wandering at his fishpond.
Macasling’s wife said he was recently threatened by a person following an altercation when he was caught by her husband at his fish pond.
Police said the incident could be insurgency-related since the barangay is reportedly rebel-influenced.
