4.8-magnitude offshore quake hits Davao Occidental — Phivolcs
A magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred near the waters of Davao Occidental at 8:34 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs traced its epicenter 78 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental province.
The tremor, which occurred at a depth of one kilometer was tectonic or caused by the movement of an active fault near the area, it said.
Phivolcs said it was "slightly felt" at Intensity II in the City of General Santos, South Cotabato, while it was "scarcely perceptible" at Intensity I in Glan and Malungon, Sarangani.
Its instruments also recorded the quake at Intensity II in the City of General Santos, South Cotabato and Glan, Sarangani, while it was registered at Intensity I in Polomolok, Tupi, and T'Boli, South Cotabato; and Kiamba, Malungon, and Alabel, Sarangani.
Phivolcs does not expect damage or aftershocks due to this earthquake.
