3 Taguig schools receive bomb threats

Three public schools in Taguig received bomb threats on Tuesday, Feb. 13, the police confirmed.

According to the Taguig Police, these are the University of Makati (UMAK), West Rembo Elementary School, and Fort Bonifacio Elementary School.

The three schools are in Barangay West Rembo, which is now part of Taguig based on a Supreme Court decision in 2021 which became final last year, transferring 10 barangays from Makati to Taguig.

According to the police, the schools’ security personnel called the Taguig Police substation, which called the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit.

The police said the EOD did not find any bomb in all the three public schools, which received the bomb threats consecutively.

“Nag-clearing ang EOD, negative naman (The EOD held clearing [operations] and it came out negative,” the Taguig Police said.

In a statement, Staff Sgt. Raymond Arizabal of the Taguig Police said, “Upon the completion of a thorough search, the EOD Team found no presence of any explosive or destructive material/substance during paneling at University of Makati. Paneling was completed at exactly 12:49 PM on the same date.”

No classes were canceled in the three schools despite the bomb threats.

The Taguig Police said they are investigating if the bomb threats in the three schools came from one person only.
