Riding high on MIFF victory, Pepe Herrera is confident as he declares, 'We're just starting. The best is yet to come'

Fresh from winning Best Supporting Actor at the Manila International Film Festival, Pepe Herrera continues to make waves in Philippine entertainment with numerous notable projects.

“May times na yung tamang paghugot, tamang timpla, dun yung may challenge. Thankfully, lahat naman ng nakaka-trabaho ko collaborative, so nagagawan naman ng paraan,” Pepe reflected, speaking from his experience of collaborating with numerous actors throughout his career.

Recently, he showcased his comedic prowess in the film “Ma’am Chief" collaborating with Melai Cantiveros under Pulp. In another cinematic venture, Herrera joined forces with industry powerhouses Sharon Cuneta and Alden Richards in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “A Family of Two.”

He also took on the role of the romantic leading man in the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean film "My Sassy Girl." 

When asked what makes Pepe the perfect leading man, he responded, “Being Pepe Herrera—to be sincere and truthful.” Further contributing to his achievements, "My Sassy Girl," which premiered on Jan. 31 this year, raked in an impressive P5.2 million in total opening sales.

“I feel confident na madaming manonood [I Am Not Big Bird]. Na-iimagine ko yung grupo, either family or friends," Pepe said.

Moreover, set to be produced by Dreamscape Entertainment—ABS-CBN Entertainment and Viu are partnering on a local adaptation of the beloved Korean series “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” with Pepe poised to join the cast.

“Sa ngayon, with my current state, iwas muna ako sa masyadong dark na roles to protect my mental health,” Pepe said.

In April, audiences can anticipate seeing Pepe take the stage in Parokya ni Edgar The Musical at Newport World Resorts. Pepe is also set to take the spotlight in an eagerly anticipated Amazon Prime series, with further details, including the release date, to be announced soon.

With recent successes and exciting prospects ahead, Pepe's journey in Philippine entertainment continues to thrive.
