PRO-13 awards cop wounded in clash with robbery gang


BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office-13 awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (PNP Wounded Personnel Medal) to a police officer from the Surigao City Police Office who was wounded in an encounter with a gang who robbed a cement company in Surigao City early this month.

Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft visited and awarded the medal on Saturday, February 10, to Police Corporal Andres D. Felisco Jr. who is recovering in a government hospital in Davao City.

“Police Corporal Andres D. Felisco Jr.'s remarkable display of bravery in the face of immense danger, undeterred by the potential sacrifice of his own life in the line of duty, epitomizes an unwavering commitment to serve and safeguard the community,” Kraft said.

Police were called in after 15 armed men broke into the Pacific Cement Co. before dawn on February 3.

Responding lawmen engaged the suspects in gun fight in which Felisco was wounded.

Suspects took valuable metals worth a total of P1 million.

Two suspects have been arrested and police are conducting follow-up operations for their cohorts’ arrest.
