The Mitsubishi family is about to get bigger with the addition of its latest member, the XForce crossover, this June 2024. The announcement was made by Takeshi Hara, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC).

Teased as a concept last year, the XForce has been greenlit for production and hopes to do battle in the highly competitive B-segment Crossover market. The upcoming Mitsubishi XForce will be offered to compete against vehicles like the GAC GS3 Emzoom, Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross, and Geely Coolray.

Mitsubishi executives have yet to announce the prices and variants. However, as with past models like the Triton and Xpander, it is likely to be very competitive within the segment.

Made for ASEAN

While many Mitsubishi models are typically offered around the world, the XForce is more like the Xpander, in that it was specifically designed for the needs of ASEAN region customers.

As such, the vehicle will be powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve MIVEC engine paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The vehicle will also be equipped with built-in drive modes to cope with a variety of difficult terrain. Aptly named for their use, these drive modes are Normal, Mud, Gravel, and Wet. Despite being positioned as the brand’s most affordable crossover, it will still have specifications to match its SUV-look, such as ground clearance of 222 mm, and 18-inch wheels on select models.

As is evident from the photos, the XForce features a futuristic and sophisticated exterior. It boasts of a unique interpretation of Mitsubishi’s trademark dynamic shield design language to offer a rugged look but also a roomy interior.

Inside, the top-of-the-line XForce will feature a Yamaha Premium sound system. It’s connected to a 12.3-inch center LCD display. The driver gets an eight-inch digital instrument cluster.

The XForce will be built in the Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Indonesia plant and will benefit from reduced tariffs as its produced and imported from a fellow ASEAN member country.

More details on the XForce, including how to reserve in advance, will be revealed in the coming months.
