Beauty queen and model Maureen Wroblewitz has expressed her openness to becoming friends with her ex-boyfriend, singer-actor JK Labajo after their split in 2022.

"Maybe one day, but I think we're kinda like trying to find ourselves separately, and I think that's good," Maureen said during a short interview at the red carpet event of the film ''Take Me to Banaue.''

Although they keep things casual after the breakup, Maureen is happy for the both of them as they pursue their projects.

"He's been doing great with his music, and he's going to acting. As for me, I've been trying to venture back to modeling. We're doing well individually," Maureen said.

It can be recalled that JK Labajo revealed that his song "Ere" was about her. The song became a hit all over the streaming platform and eventually made history as the first OPM song to enter the top 100 on the global Spotify chart.

Maureen casually answered the questions from the media, about her reaction to the song.

"Yeah! It’s gonna kind of like a delayed… a delayed song. Because it takes very long to release a song. So it’s just happened to be last year, but for sure it’s like it should have been before,” Maureen said.

Upon giving her reaction, Maureen was also asked if JK still hadn't moved on from her, and she quickly responded that they were both doing good.

"No naman. It’s just like it takes a long time to release a song, and we're both doing good naman," she said.

(No way. It's just like it takes long to release a song, and we're both doing well)

Maureen is currently dating Noah Steinbuch, who's also a model and they are both based in Los Angeles. During the interview, Maureen shared that she's happy with her "lowkey" relationship with Noah.

"Our relationship is very lowkey, and we're happy. It's more like working a lot on myself. And I discovered so much about myself, and I’ve grown so much. It helps me grow, and I prioritize myself, which is great,” she added.

Taking her first lead role

After her Miss Universe stint, Maureen shifted to acting as she played the role of Grace in the film "Take Me to Banaue."

"I've been very lucky with Director Danny Aguilar. He's been very patient with me since this is my first time acting and of course. It's kinda nerve-wracking because I've done modeling my whole life, and this is the first time that people are seeing my work," Maureen said.

Since moving to LA, she has attended acting workshops to improve her skills.

In the film, Grace is a young, hardworking, independent girl from Banaue who is driven to provide for her family, even at the expense of crossing certain moral lines.

What made this film even more surprising for Maureen is that she speaks "Tuwali" the native language of the Ifugao tribe in every scene.

Also joining her in the film is Kapuso actress Thea Tolentino, who will be playing the role of Jinky Pascual.

"It’s something new for me kasi hindi ko pa nata-try talaga yung comedy side. So, may bits of comedy yung character ko dito,” Thea said during the interview.

(It's something new for me because I haven't really tried the comedy side. So, my character has bits of comedy here)

Completing the cast in the film are Brandon Melo, Dylan Rogers, Boobay, and MJ Lastimosa.

The films follows Hank, a gawky American Engineer in his pursuit to meet the perfect girlfriend who he hopes will become his wife.

After discovering the truth about the stunning woman (Grace) he fell for, Hank must spend days and hours grappling with a deal from a businesswoman and listening to his friend's advice all as he tries to make it to Banaue...for the woman he loves.
