Marcos commends 4 combat-wounded troops in Lanao del Sur clash
President Marcos hailed the heroism of four soldiers who were wounded in a recent operation against the Dawlah Islamiya-Maute Group (DI-MG).

Marcos personally visited the combat-wounded troops at the Army General Hospital in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on Monday, Feb. 12, to award Gold Cross Medals and Military Merit Medals (MMM) to the soldiers.
The President pinned Gold Cross Medals to two wounded troops in recognition of their gallantry in action and also awarded Military Merit Medals (MMM) with Bronze Spearhead Device to the two other soldiers for their crucial role in the operation.
According to the Philippine Army, the four soldiers from the 3rd Scout Ranger Battalion sustained injuries during the series of firefights against DI-MG members on January 25 to 26 in Barangay Tapurong, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur.
Army troops successfully neutralized nine DI-MG members including suspects in the MSU-Marawi bombing during the operation.
Marcos was accompanied by Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., and Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, in giving the awards.
