Automobile company Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) recognized its numerous local operations in creating a vast automobile dealer network, especially in its truck segment.
During the IPC's internal Dealer of the Year Awards on Feb. 9, IPC President Tetsuya Fujita emphasized Isuzu as a leader in selling truck units for 25 consecutive years.
Fujita cited data from the joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association's (TMA) showing Isuzu ranked as the top most brand for light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty trucks and buses for the whole of 2023.
There was a 2.8 percent increase in the sales of Isuzu light-duty trucks and buses last year at 3,034 units from 2,952 in 2022. It held 47.14 percent of the market share in 2023.
Meanwhile, a slight 1.7 percent dip in medium-duty trucks and buses sales was seen to 1,407 units from 1,431 in 2022. However, Isuzu remained to have the biggest market share at 37.49 percent.
Isuzu's heavy-duty trucks and buses make up 39.15 percent of the market share with 397 units sold in 2023, which was a 33.7 percent leap from 297 in 2022.
While IPC is able to maintain its sales development for trucks, Fujita said he is challenging the networks to improve its sale of light commercial vehicles (LCV), along with creating innovative solutions for customers.
As of December last year, Isuzu ranked fifth in total commercial vehicle sales, comprising 5.49 percent of the market share with 17,607 units.
It also ranked fifth for LCVs, selling 12,769 units in 2023, making up nearly four percent of the market share.
He also joined the festivities in the ceremony as dealers were given accolades for their contributions to the company.
