A day before Valentine's Day, the prices of flowers surged by up to 100 percent in a flower shop at Farmer’s Garden in Araneta City, Cubao, Quezon City, on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

In an interview with Manila Bulletin, Jennifer and Agie’s Flowershop stated that the prices of each flower doubled from their original prices.
Roses, the most commonly purchased flowers, were particularly affected.
One stem of rose was being sold for P150, up from its previous price of P75.
A dozen roses was being sold for P1500, while a half dozen was priced at P800.
Similarly, one piece of tulip was being sold at P500, an increase of P250 from its previous price.
A dozen tulips now costs P6,000 while half dozen would cost P3,000.
A single daisy was being sold for P300, which was previously priced at P150.
A dozen daisies was being sold for P2,400, while a half dozen would cost P1,200.
The flower shop staff also mentioned that the price increase significantly impacted their business, resulting in a lower number of flowers being sold.
Other flower shops in the market also increased their prices, ranging from P250 for a single stem of rose to P5,000 for a dozen.

A single stem of rose is priced at P350 while a dozen would go for P1,999.
A single piece of Sunflower and Gerbera is available for P250, while 10 stems will sell for P1,600 .
A single stem of tulip would cost P450 while two dozens would sell for P5,000.
