TACLOBAN CITY – Seventy-one passengers of a distressed Roll-on, Roll-off vessel, MV Reina Hosanna, were rescued in the sea of Capul Island, Northern Samar, on Sunday, February 11.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) assisted in rescuing the vessel after it encountered engine failure on its way to Allen, Northern Samar.
The vessel was also carrying 16 light cars, one Isuzu Elf truck, one Isuzu Forward truck, one trailer, and eight 10-wheel trucks from Matnog, Sorsogon.
Another vessel, MV Reina Immaculada, tried to tow the vessel that was dead on water but failed when the mooring line tore during the operation.
MV Reina Hossana, due to strong wind and currents, ran aground on the shoreline of Sitio Sagaosawan, Barangay 1, Capul.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) in Capul and the local government unit immediately conducted a rescue operation to ensure the safety of passengers on board.
No person was reported hurt during the incident.
