Taguig replaces ambulances in EMBO barangays

The Taguig City government provided new ambulances to two EMBO (enlisted men’s barrio) barangays.

On Feb. 11, Taguig, led by Mayor Lani Cayetano, announced that it turned over brand new ambulances to Barangays Comembo and Rizal after it said the Makati City government took back the vehicles that were previously given to the two EMBO areas.

Barangay Comembo Kagawad Cielita Cortez said the new ambulance will ensure health services for the residents.

“Binawi ang lumang ambulance [pero] napakaganda ng ipinalit. [May] mga bagay na nawala sa atin, may mas magandang ipapalit ang Panginoon!” (The old ambulance was taken back but was provided was beautiful. The things that we lost, the Lord will provide better),” she said, the city government said.

The Taguig City government said the ambulance of Comembo was not even owned by the Makati City government. It was given by the Department of Health under its Health Facilities Enhancement Program, it said.

“Your provision of an ambulance exemplifies your commitment to our safety and well-being. Your leadership ensures that we can rely on essential services in times of need. Grateful for your proactive approach. Think BIG, I Love Taguig,” said Cortez of Cayetano.

On the other hand, Barangay Rizal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management team head  Kagawad Vladimir Lucido said the new ambulance will help people.

“Ang barangay po namin ay halos 100,000 household. Napakarami po talagang matutulungan [ng ambulansya], kaya po nung dumating siya, isa ito sa mga tutulong sa aming mga kabarangay (Our barangay has almost 100,000 households. There are so many who will be helped (by the ambulance), that is why when it arrived, this will help our fellow barangay residents),” he said.

In a decision which became final last year, the Supreme Court transferred 10 EMBO barangays from Makati to Taguig.

These are Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, Pembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside, Rizal, South Cembo and West Rembo.
