Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan was invited as one of the speakers at this year’s annual Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) conference at Harvard University in the United States of America.
The conference entitled “Chartering New Horizon: Mapping Present and Future” was held from Feb. 9 to 11.
With her exemplary commitment to public service, Mayor Honey is the second Filipino to have been invited to speak at the conference.
Former Vice President Leni Robredo was a conference speaker in 2023.
Lacuna-Pangan made history by becoming the first female mayor in the capital city in 450 years.
Before becoming a mayor, she was also the first female Majority Leader of the Manila City Council, Vice Mayor, and the Presiding Officer of the City Council.
She has three decades of public service experience- from a dedicated physician to a pioneering public servant.
From 2004 until the present, she has been committed to prioritizing healthcare and gained extensive legislative experience in addressing pressing issues in the City of Manila.
She was integral in managing the challenging times in the city during the Covid-19 pandemic and led Manila’s healthcare program expansion.
The lady mayor, currently serving her first term, is focused on bringing the city government’s services closer to the people through the "Kalinga sa Maynila" program and expanding its social amelioration programs.
Kalinga has served over 300,000 families and gave jobs to 50,000 Manileños.
