Mayor Along vows to continue efficient use of Caloocan's public funds
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan said that the local government will continue the efficient utilization of the public funds in providing services to the residents after the city passed the Department of Interior and Local Government' (DILG's) 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) audit.
The city government said it passed the GFH audit for its outstanding and consistent compliance with nationally set standards for government fiscal accounting.
"Nakapasa po ang Lungsod ng Caloocan sa 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) dulot ng mahusay na pagtatala ng paggamit ng pera lungsod at ang maingat na pangangalaga sa mga pinansyal na dokumento (The City of Caloocan has passed the 2023 Good Financial Housekeeping (GFH) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) due to the efficient recording of the use of city money and the careful preservation of financial documents)," the mayor said.
According to the local government, DILG recognized Caloocan's auditing efforts for having high audit opinion ratings from the Commission on Audit (COA) and for observing practices that adhere to the "Full Disclosure Policy (FDP)" when it comes to the city’s financial documents.
The FDP requires local governments to fully disclose particular financial documents to keep their constituents informed on how the city’s funds are managed, disbursed, and used.
The GFH promotes honest, transparent, and orderly management of public funds and prevents or minimizes corruption. It is part of the DILG’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), an assessment system that recognizes an LGU’s remarkable performance in various areas.
“Malugod po nating tinatanggap ang isa na namang karangalan para sa Lungsod ng Caloocan mula sa DILG. Maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng aking mga kapwa lingkod-bayan sa pamahalaang lungsod na walang sawang tumutugon sa ating direktiba na magkaroon ng maayos at malinis na paggamit ng pera ng ating lungsod (We welcome yet another honor for the City of Caloocan from the DILG. Thank you very much to all my fellow public servants in the city government who tirelessly respond to our directive to have a proper and clean use of our city's money),” Malapitan said.
“Sa paggamit po natin ng pera mula sa kaban ng lungsod, tiwala po ng taumbayan ang laging nakasalalay. Asahan niyo po na hindi namin sisirain ang tiwalang ito at mas pagagandahin pa ang mga serbisyo para sa inyong lahat (When we use money from the city treasury, the trust of the people always depends. Please expect that we will not break this trust and will improve the services for all of you),” he added.
