The Bureau of Customs (BOC) is stepping up its efforts to track down the blue Bugatti Chiron hypersports car, reiterating that there is a cash reward for informants who can help in finding the smuggled vehicle.

“It’s going to be a small world from now on,” declared Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) Director Verne Enciso, as he issued a new directive to redouble efforts in pursuing the leads gathered to locate the blue Bugatti.
“To the owner of the blue Bugatti, I promise that we will find you. A sports car like this attracts attention on the road. With the promise of a cash reward, we expect to receive information as soon as you drive your car on the road,” Enciso said.
The BOC said the cash reward will amount to 20 percent of the actual revenue collected from the sale of the smuggled vehicle.
The car, which cost around P165 million without customs duties and taxes, have been investigated by the BOC since November last year after receiving “derogatory information” about it.
Authorities already issued a warrant of seizure and detention for the blue luxury car due to a lack of importation documents.
The BOC stated that the 2023 Bugatti Chiron has been frequently sighted in Muntinlupa, Pasig, Pasay, and Cavite.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio, meanwhile, said that the bureau has identified the registered owner of the blue sports car with plate number NIM 5448.
“Surrender, or you will face the consequences. We already have the information on the location of the car, but we are still verifying this. But for the owner, it would be better for him to surrender, similar to what the owner of the red Bugatti did,” Rubio said.
That development came in response to a public appeal made earlier in the week by the BOC, aiming to locate two Bugatti Chiron sports cars.
Customs Deputy Commissioner for the Intelligence Group Juvymax Uy said that the bureau had issued the public appeal after confirming that the vehicles lacked the necessary importation documents.
“We received derogatory information about these cars back in November 2023, so we asked the Management Information System Technical Group (MISTG) to check if these cars have papers, and it was later on confirmed that they do not have the documents necessary to bring the vehicles here,” he said.
