They were onboard a commercial vessel docked at the seaport ready to depart through the southern backdoor when they were rescued.
They failed to present employment documents and were reportedly bound for Malaysia through Tawi-Tawi where they will be met by unidentified individuals.
The rescued persons were identified as residents of General Santos and Pagadian cities who were promised work abroad.
They were subjected to profiling and documentation and turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development-9 Processing Center for Displaced Persons for temporary shelter, counseling, assessment, and evaluation.
This was the third successful rescue operation launched by the NFWM for victims of human trafficking.
