MPD chief inspects vendors in Binondo amid CNY celebration
Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, Manila Police District (MPD) director, inspected the street vendors along Ongpin Street in Binondo, Manila amid the celebration of Chinese New Year.
According to the MPD director, they implemented strict security measures during the course of the celebration.
Tarpaulins were also installed on the street posts to keep reminding the crowds to be vigilant and alert of the pickpockets.
Ibay had talked to some vendors of lucky charms and fruits to check their situation on the streets.
Vendors were allowed to sell on the sidewalks but no products should be displayed beyond the gutter, he said.

The police chief also spearheaded the foot traffic and situation during the grand fireworks display at Jones Bridge and its newly built walkways.
He gave safety reminders to 17,000 revelers of the Chinese New Year countdown, who watched the 12-minute pyro-musical fireworks display.
Meanwhile, Ibay also reminded motorists of its regular checkpoint operations around the area.
