Marcos calls for firm commitment, resolve to achieve dreams this Year of the Dragon

President Marcos said that while good fortune and prosperity await the country this Year of the Dragon, he reminded Filipinos that their commitment and resolve are the two things that would transform their dreams into reality.

Marcos said this as he wished the Filipino-Chinese community an auspicious and bountiful Chinese New Year on Feb. 10.

In his message, the President is hoping that the victories of 2023 rekindle everyone's "enthusiasm and optimism" in uplifting and steering the country to greater heights.  

"While it is true that good fortune and prosperity await us, let us take to heart that it is only through our firm commitment and resolve that we can transform our dreams into reality," he said on Saturday.

"As one diverse yet united community, may we immerse ourselves in the richness of our cultural identity and lay the groundwork for a more peaceful, harmonious, and progressive Philippines," he added.

Marcos urged the people to also reflect on their accomplishments in 2023.

"This occasion brims with infinite opportunities as we gather to pay homage to the heritage of the dragon, a timeless symbol of power, wisdom, and courage," he said.

"In its majestic presence, let us reflect on our accomplishments in the past year, cherishing the triumphs that elevated our spirits and nourished our souls," he added.

Feb. 9 and 10 of this year were declared special nonworking days in the Philippines in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
