Bicol cops net P15-M shabu, cocaine


LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Police arrested two suspected drug pushers and seized shabu and cocaine worth P15.1 million in a buy-bust operation in Vinzons, Camarines Norte on Friday, February 9.

Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 spokesperson, identified the suspects as Lon, 38, of Labo, Camarines Norte, and Ian, 39, from Pasacao, Camarines Sur.

“At around 11:20 p.m., a buy-bust operation was carried out in Purok 1, Barangay Santi Domingo, Vinzons, Camarines Norte, resulting in the arrest of two high-value individuals," Calubaquib said in a statement.

Calubaquib said suspects yielded 2.2 kilos of suspected shabu concealed in tea bags with an estimated value of P14.9 million and 40 grams of suspected cocaine in a zip-lock transparent sachet worth P212,000.

"Following proper documentation in the presence of mandatory witnesses, the arrested suspects and seized evidence were turned over to Vinzons MPS for further processing," Calubaquib said.

"Police Brig. Gen. Andre P. Dizon, PRO-5 chief, commended the dedicated efforts of the operating team in achieving this significant drug seizure,” she said.

“He emphasized the importance of such operations in the ongoing campaign to eradicate or reduce the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region. He further vowed to intensify the operation aimed at identifying those responsible for this activity and ensuring they face the consequences for their illicit acts," Calubaquib added.
