A paralytic senior citizen died when he was trapped inside his burning house while two others were injured in a fire that hit a residential area in Pasay City on Friday afternoon, Feb. 9.
SFO1 Rezmond Germino of Pasay City Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said the blaze broke out at around 2:45 p.m. at a two-story house owned by Barangay Chairman Marcelo Tayco on P. Zamora St. in Barangay 9.
The fatality was identified as Ruben Yabut, 72, who was inside his room on the second floor of his house.
Injured were Wilmar Elizear,65, who suffered first degree burns on the body and Roderick Sandejas, 52, who sustained third degree burns on his left finger.
The BFP reported that Yabut was trapped inside his burning house while his grandchild, reportedly a special child, was able to leave before the place was razed by the fire.
The BFP said seven houses including the barangay hall were burned during the fire and 30 families were affected.
The BFP said the fire was declared out at around 4:30 p.m. and placed the cost of damage at P450,000.
Probers are still conducting investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
