Netflix releases teaser, first look images for highly anticipated ‘Squid Game 2’


Netflix has released the teaser and first look images of the highly anticipated Korean series “Squid Game” Season 2. 

“Squid Game (오징어 게임),” which premiered in 2021, rose to become Netflix’s biggest show with 2.2 billion hours viewed or 265.2 million views in its first 91 days on the streaming platform.

The teaser of “Squid Game” Season 2 showed Gi-hun (played by actor Lee Jung-jae) abandoning his plans to go to the US. 

“I will find you. No matter what it takes,” Gi-hun declares in a phone call at the airport. 

“Squid Game” is about a group of contestants who play dangerous children’s games to bag a cash prize of 45.6 billion won (about $34 million). 

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who became the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series at the 74th Primetime Emmys, returns as director, writer, and producer of “Squid Game” Season 1. 

“Squid Game” Season 2 stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo who are reprising their roles from Season 2. 

The new cast members are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yuri, and Won Ji-an. 

Netflix has yet to announce the date of the airing of “Squid Game” Season 2 this year.
