Majority Leader Zamboanga City 2nd district Rep. Mannix Dalipe has asked former president Rodrigo Duterte to stop telling tall tales regarding the House of Representatives' push for Charter change (Cha-cha).
This, after Duterte claimed in one of his tirades against the chamber that it is actually pursuing political amendments to the 1987 Constitution.
"Tama na po yung istorya-istorya at kung ano-anong kalokohan. Kaya nga masaya kami ngayon upon learning that the Senate is now going to deliberate on it (Resolution of Both Houses No.6). Ang tagal na po nating hinihintay 'yan," Dalipe said in a press briefing Wednesday night, Jan. 31.
(Enough of these tall tales and whatever foolishness. That's why we're happy upon learning that the Senate is now going to deliberate on RBH No.6. We've waited so long for this.)
"So tama na po 'yung kung anu-anong istorya (So enough of these tall tales), let’s stick to the facts of what we transmitted to the Senate," he underscored.
Duterte has claimed that once the nation is shifted to the parliamentary form of government, Speaker Martin Romualdez would become prime minister and he would be succeeded by presidential son, Senior Deputy Majority Leader Ilocos Norte 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos.
But Dalipe maintained that the Romualdez-led House only wants changes to the existing Charter's economic provisions.

"We welcome, we would like to thank our counterpart in the Senate for finally sitting down—as what we have been requesting---let’s bring it out to a higher level of discussion particularly the meat of the matter, the economic amendments to be made to help this country, the economic amendments to update that 37-year-old Constitution," said the Mindanao solon.
RBH No.6 is the Senate's very own pro-Cha-cha measure. It seeks to convene a Constituent Assembly (Con-Ass) among the sitting lawmakers to introduce the economic amendments.
The House leadership had earlier said it would adopt RBH No.6 once the Senate approves it.
