Ace libero Justine Jazareno is taking a maternity leave for the Akari Chargers in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) after her management announced she is expecting her first child.

In a statement, VP Global Management said it is supportive of Jazareno’s pregnancy with her longtime partner Jhonas Mandado.
“We’re excited to share that our volleyball star, Ms. Justine Jazareno, is eagerly anticipating the joys of motherhood. She has made the decision to take a leave of absence from the game to focus on her forthcoming bundle of joy,” the statement read.
The management also thanked the Akari Chargers for supporting Jazareno as she embarks on a new chapter in her life.
Jazareno played for De La Salle in the last three UAAP seasons, anchoring the Lady Spikers with back-to-back finals appearances before opting to turn pro last September.
She played for the Chargers in the Second All-Filipino Conference where the team finished seventh with a 5-6 win-loss record.
In Jazareno’s absence, the Chargers are expected to lean on Bang Pineda and Max Juangco for their defensive needs.
Akari, which joined the league in 2022, seeks to eclipse that best finish of seventh place following the recent acquisition of star spikers Grethcel Soltones and Ced Domingo.
