Enrique Gil shares relationship status with Liza Soberano: 'We're happy. We're just really busy'

It seems like everything is going well between Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano despite the breakup rumors. 

During the media junket for Enrique's comeback film, "I am Not Big Bird" with TV Patrol, Enrique shared his relationship status with Liza.

"We're happy. We're just really busy," Enrique said. 

He also mentioned that they are both in a state of maturity when it comes to relationship and career. 

"I think we just, you know, realized na in life, parang we shouldn't always be centered around each other. We can do more, grow more and we can achieve more. And it just makes us better," Enrique added. 

Aside from TV Patrol, Manila Bulletin Entertainment also got the chance to chat with Enrique. 

According to him, they update each other when it comes to their projects.

"Actually nandun yung pangalan niya sa trailer, pero halos the whole shoot naman kahit nasa Thailand kami, nagsesend ako sa kanya ng pictures hanggang sa last day, pinapakita ko sa kanya [Liza] yung set," Enrique shared. 

(Actually, her name was there in the trailer, but almost the whole shoot even though we were in Thailand, I sent her pictures until the last day. I showed her [Liza] the set) 

With their busy schedules, the actor hopes to spend Valentine's Day with Liza. 

"Maybe we can squeeze in because she's in the US doing her promo but she'll be back on the 13th for an event and sana matapos siya ng maaga para makadaan siya sa premiere night namin, but she has to live right away for the US again," Enrique said.

He also penned a sweet message to Liza. 

"I'm super proud of her, she's taking charge of what she wants to do, and she likes to do. Super proud of her, and I support her every day, and every single second," he said. 

Liza and Enrique, rose to fame with their love LizQuen after leading the role on the series ''Forevermore'' in 2014. The couple worked together in "Dolce Amore" in 2016, and "Bagani" in 2018, and were last seen on the series "Make it With You" in 2020. 

On the big screen, they co-starred in "She's The One" in 2013 followed by "Just The Way You Are" and "Everyday I Love You" in 2015, "My Ex and Whys" in 2017, and "Alone/Together" in 2019.

Showbiz comeback

After being on break for four years, Enrique is happy to return to the big screen with the film "I Am Not Big Bird" directed by Victor Villanueva.

"It was just a nice and awesome script and fan din naman ako ng comedy yung mga early 90s and 2000s. So noong nabasa ko yung script, I said this is going to be awesome, that I get to do something like this," he said.

Enrique also added that he didn't have a hard time adjusting doing the film. 

"Hindi naman ako nahirapan, nag script reading lang kami, wala naman super mabibigat na scenes. It's more of the ensemble of the cast na mag gel lang kami while shooting," Enrique said. 

(I didn't have a hard time, we just read the script, and there were no super heavy scenes. It's more of the ensemble of the cast, that we got together while shooting) 

Hitting the theaters on Feb. 14, "I Am Not Big Bird" follows the story of Luis Carpio (Enrique) who went to Thailand after a failed relationship. He will discover that a known personality in the adult film industry named Big Bird looks a lot like him.

Written by Lilit Reyes and Directed by Victor Villanueva, the movie also stars Red Ollero, Nikko Natividad, and Pepe Herrera.
