Valenzuela, Navotas, QC LGUs distribute gift bags to children in 'Balik Sigla, Bigay Saya' program

The local government units (LGUs) of Valenzuela, Navotas, and Quezon Cities conducted simultaneous gift-giving activities on Sunday, Dec. 8, as part of the “Balik Sigla, Bigay Saya” nationwide initiative.
The program was spearheaded by the Office of the President, the Social Secretary’s Office, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In Valenzuela City, the event was held at the Valenzuela City People’s Park Amphitheater.
A total of 1,500 children from Districts 1 and 2, Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Centers, and Bahay Kalinga benefited from the initiative.
The recipients received trolley bags containing towels, socks, raincoats, watches, tumblers, pens, and pillows.
Mayoress Tiffany Gatchalian emphasized how meaningful the project was for her and Mayor Weslie "WES" Gatchalian as parents, highlighting its alignment with their advocacy for child welfare.
“Ang proyektong ito ay malapit sa puso namin ni Mayor WES Gatchalian bilang mga magulang. Alam namin kung gaano kahalaga na mabigyan ng pagmamahal, suporta, at oportunidad ang ating mga anak upang maging matagumpay sila sa kanilang kinabukasan (As parents, this project is close to our hearts. We know the importance of giving love, support, and opportunities for our children’s bright futures),” she said.
She also highlighted the Valenzuela’s recent recognition with the 2024 Galing Pook Award for its Child Protection Policy and Center.
Mayoress Tiffany was joined by her son Liam, the City Council, Social Welfare Operations Chief of Staff Dorothy Go-Evangelista, social workers, and ECCD teachers during the event.

In Navotas City, Mayor John Rey Tiangco thanked President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos for the initiative.
“Maraming Salamat po, President Bongbong Marcos at First Lady Liza Marcos sa “Balik Sigla, Bugay Saya” Nationwide Gift-Giving Day project (Thank you very much, President Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Marcos, for the “Balik Sigla, Bugay Saya” Nationwide Gift-Giving Day project),” he said.
“Talagang #SayaALL ang mga batang Navoteño na nakatanggap ng bag at aguinaldo mula sa inyo (Truly, #SayaALL for the Navoteño children who received bags and gifts from you!),” Tiangco added.

Meanwhile, in Quezon City, Mayor Joy Belmonte led the distribution at Esteban Abada Elementary School and Bungad Elementary School.
She was also joined by District 1 Action Officer Ollie Belmonte, Education Affairs Unit Head Maricris Veloso, and Barangay Veterans Village Chairperson Joy Landingin.
The simultaneous gift-giving initiative, held in various LGUs across the country, benefitted over 30,000 daycare children, underscoring the collaborative efforts of national and local governments to spread holiday cheer and provide meaningful support to the youth.
