ILOILO CITY – The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP)-6 said flights remain normal in Western Visayas amid the eruption of Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Occidental province on Monday afternoon.

“The public is informed that all scheduled flights in airports under the area remain operational with no cancellations reported following the eruption of Mount Kanlaon,” the CAAP said of flights to and from Bacolod-Silay in Negros Occidental as well as Iloilo, Kalibo, and Antique provinces.
“We encourage the flying public to stay updated on their scheduled flights by contacting the airline company directly for confirmation,” the CAAP-6 added.
The Western Visayas Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council conducted an emergency meeting on Monday afternoon to assess the damage from Kanlaon Volcano and discuss precautionary measures on its impact in other parts of the region.
Local government units (LGUs) in Panay Island are also on alert as the wind may affect the direction of the ash plume.
