In anticipation of the influx of passengers on the days leading to Christmas and New Year celebrations, the new operator of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) opened a centralized transport network vehicle service (TNVS) hub for easier and more convenient access to ride-hailing services.
In a statement, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), said the new facility is designed to reduce curbside congestion and improve traffic flow as the 6,000- square meter hub features 401 parking slots, 18 loading bays, and dedicated lanes for TNVs, along with multiple entry and exit points to ensure seamless traffic management.
“With a centralized hub and diverse transportation options, we are bringing more order and efficiency to the airport. This is part of our commitment to making travel smoother and stress-free for every passenger,” said Alvarez.
The TNVS hub became fully operational on Dec. 8 and was opened to ride-hailing services and metered taxis operated by JoyRide at Terminal 3.
Grab Philippines, according to the NNIC, was the first operator to transition to the facility by providing services during the soft launch on Dec. 5, and began its full-scale operations at the hub on Dec. 8.
Angkas, through its four-wheeled ride service Angcars, will also join the facility, offering another seamless option for airport passengers.
“All three operators have committed to deploying dedicated airport pickup drivers to ensure faster and more efficient service during the busy holiday season. Rates will remain comparable to coupon taxis, maintaining affordability while offering the added convenience of app-based services,” the NNIC statement read.
It said passengers without ride-hailing apps can also make on-the-spot bookings at dedicated lounges for Grab, JoyRide, and Angcars, located adjacent to the car park.
Grab’s lounge, for example, provides a streamlined process for immediate bookings, ensuring accessibility for all travelers.
“This centralized hub is part of NNIC’s broader efforts to modernize and rehabilitate NAIA, addressing long-standing issues such as overcapacity and outdated infrastructure,” the NNIC said.
“By collaborating with industry leaders like Grab, JoyRide, and Angkas, NNIC aims to deliver a world-class airport experience that matches the needs of today’s travelers,” it added.
