Filipinos in South Korea were told to refrain from participating in any protest being staged in the foreign country.

The Philippine Embassy in the Republic of Korea issued a reminder to Filipinos there that foreigners are prohibited to engage in such public demonstrations under South Korea's law.
"Nais pong ipaalala ng Embahada ng Pilipinas sa lahat ng mga Filipino sa South Korea na umiwas sa pakikilahok sa anumang protesta, rally, o pampublikong demonstrasyon (The Philippine Embassy wants to remind all Filipinos in South Korea to avoid joining in any protest, rally, or public demonstration)," the embassy said in a statement on Sunday, Dec. 8.
"Sa ilalim ng mga batas ng Republika ng Korea (ROK), mahigpit na ipinagbabawal ang mga dayuhan na makibahagi sa ganitong uri ng pampulitikang aktibidad (Under the law of the Republic of Korea, foreigners are strictly prohibited to take part in this kind of public activity)," the embassy added.
The embassy noted that violating the law would result in legal consequences under Article 17 of the Immigration Control Act (Sojourn and Departure of Foreigners) of South Korea.
Filipinos were advised to follow the country's laws and regulations to avoid any conflict during their stay in South Korea.
They were also asked to reach out to the embassy through [email protected] or 010-9263-8119 if they have inquiries.
Protesters have been staging a rally to demand South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment.
