Municipal councilor in Pangasinan shot dead

UMINGAN, Pangasinan – A municipal councilor here was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Lubong, this town, on Saturday night, Dec. 7.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office identified the victim as Ponciano Vallecer Onia, 59, from Barangay San Leon here.

Investigation said the victim was driving his gray Toyota Fortuner with license plates CAW-6673 with employees Ar-Jhay Roldan Molina and Mark John Dagul Nava as passengers when the unidentified suspects riding a motorcycle appeared and shot him.

The gunmen fled and the victims who sustained multiple bullet wounds were taken to the Umingan Community Hospital where Onia was declared dead.

Police recovered eight fired caliber .45 cartridge cases and two deformed bullets in the crime scene.

Closed-circuit television footages in the area are being reviewed to identify the suspects.

Lawmen are pursuing the suspects and conducting follow-up investigation.
