DHSUD warns public vs 4PH housing project scammers

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) urged the public to exercise caution as there are individuals soliciting money supposedly to finance Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program but in reality, it’s a scam.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said scammers often prey on overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

According to information receive by the DHSUD, certain individuals or groups are enticing “investors”, particularly OFWs, to finance 4PH projects in exchange of attractive return rates.

“Hindi po kami tumatanggap ng investors para magpagawa ng 4PH projects. Wala pong authorized na opisina o tao, kahit dito sa DHSUD, na makipagtransaksyon tungkol sa ganitong investment scheme (We are not accepting investors to build 4PH projects. We have no authorized office or personnel, even here at the DHSUD, tasked to transact in this kind of investment scheme),” Acuzar said in a statement Sunday. Dec. 8.

"Fake news po ‘yan, o mas malala baka po scam (That is fake news, or worse, it’s a scam),” he added.

Acuzar said the public should report to authorities if they encounter private individuals or groups posing as agents of 4PH. He stressed those interested with 4PH should only channel their queries and concerns to the DHSUD or the host local government units (LGUs).

The housing czar said any information relayed to DHSUD will be handled with utmost confidentiality as he vowed to throw the book against those found abusing 4PH.

“We will exert the full force of the law against these unscrupulous individuals or groups preying on unsuspecting victims,” Acuzar vowed.

The 4PH program is the government’s flagship housing project launched in 2022. It seeks to provide affordably-priced homes and lower monthly amortization costs through various subsidies for Filipino workers who are members of Pag-IBIG Fund.
