DFA tells Filipinos in Syria: Stay in contact with PH embassy


Filipinos in Syria were urged to stay in contact with the Philippine Embassy in Damascus amid the current situation in the country.

"We express concern regarding the situation of our Filipinos in Syria and advise them to take the necessary precautions and stay in contact with the Philippine Embassy in Damascus," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Sunday, Dec. 8.

In its statement, the Foreign Affairs agency said it continues to monitor the current situation in Syria.

"The Department of Foreign Affairs continues to monitor, with concern, ongoing developments in Syria," it said in a statement on Sunday, Dec. 8.

On behalf of the Philippines, it also called on concerned parties "to exercise restraint and refrain from further violence, to avert further casualties and deaths of civilians."

As of December 2023, there 703 Filipinos in Syria, the DFA said.
