The MPL Philippines Season 14 champions were drawn against the hosts and MPL Malaysia titlists, pitting two of the title favorites in a best-of-three affair in the upper bracket quarterfinals that fires off on Saturday, Dec. 7.

FNOP swept its assignments in the swiss stage, taking down Team Liquid Indonesia, CFU Gaming and BloodThirstyKings while SRG showed some chinks on its armor after having to go through all of the five rounds, following losses to S2G Esport and Falcon Esports.

The Malaysian crew handled by Filipino coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado, and bannered by PH imports John Vincent “Innocent” Banal and Mark “Kramm” Rusiana, got past the swiss round with victories over ULFHEDNAR, Keep Best Gaming and CFU Gaming.

The Filipinos, on the other hand, highlighted their swiss stage run with star gold lane Duane “Kelra” Pillas utilizing seldom picked marksman Layla in FNOP’s playoff-clinching win over BTK.

FNOP, however, is the last hope for the Philippines to keep the M-series title, which the country won in the last four World Championships after MPL PH runner-up Aurora Gaming got the early boot in the swiss play.

Other playoff matchups, meanwhile, have Falcon Esports and NIP Flash locking horns for the chance to play the winner in the clash between FNOP and SRG.

Indonesian champion RRQ Hoshi tangles against Malaysian runner-up Team Vamos while Europe’s Team Spirit takes on Team Liquid ID over at the other brackets.

Winners will advance to the best-of-five upper bracket finals clash while losers will battle for survival in another best-of-five lower bracket round 1 showdown.
