A total of 132 local government units (LGUs) were conferred with the "SubayBAYANI Awards", a recognition given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in recognition of good practice, innovation, and excellence in the governance of local infrastructure services and programs of LGUs.
The DILG said Thursday, Dec. 5, that the award highlights the positive impact that the LGUs produce for the Filipinos and the communities.
Among the 132 awardees, nine were awarded as overall top-performing LGUs: Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Aklan for provinces; El Salvador City, City of Pasay, and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan for cities; and Pudtol in Apayao, Buenavista in Marinduque, and New Washington in Aklan for municipalities.
DILG Secretary Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla commended the awardees and urged them to go beyond the citation and continue serving the communities.
“May today be both a celebration of your achievements and a renewal of your dedication to your communities,” Remulla said in a speech delivered by DILG Undersecretary Marlo Iringan.
The DILG pointed out that this year, an additional criterion, Most Significant Change (MSC), was introduced, emphasizing stories of progress and transformation gathered from communities.
Among the overall top-performing LGUs were Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Aklan for provinces; El Salvador City, City of Pasay, and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan for cities; and Pudtol in Apayao, Buenavista in Marinduque, and New Washington in Aklan for municipalities.
Meanwhile, each region was awarded "SubayBAYANI Awards Exemplars" composed of three provinces, cities and municipalities -- totaling 132 across the country.
The DILG also commended its regional offices in Cagayan Valley (Region 2), Eastern Visayas (Region 8), and Soccsksargen (Region 12) as regional overall top performers for their “untiring dedication in monitoring the infrastructure projects enrolled in the SubayBAYAN under your jurisdiction.”
This year, 28,556 infrastructure projects all over the country are being monitored by the DILG through the SubayBAYAN platform such as road projects, water systems, evacuation centers, eco parks, and other facilities.
