The distribution was held at Rizal High School Gymnasium last Dec. 2, where 11 summa cum laude graduates received P30,000 each; 130 magna cum laude graduates received P25,000 each; and 487 cum laude graduates received P20,000 each.
Pasig City officials, including Mayor Vico Sotto, Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, Ms. Shalani Soledad (represented Congressman Roman Romulo), and members of the 11th Pasig City Council, attended the event.
The local government said that the incentives were given in recognition of the hard work and achievements of students who completed their college education, especially those who graduated with honors.
Jaworski also congratulated the graduates and said that giving cash gifts could inspire the youth to study more.
“Isa sa mga paraan upang hikayatin ang ating mga kabataang magpursigi sa pag-aaral ay ang pagbibigay ng cash gift sa mga mag-aaral na nagtatapos nang may Latin honors (One way to inspire our youth to strive in their studies is by providing cash gifts to students who graduate with Latin honors),” Vice Mayor Jaworski said.
In Pasig, we recognize and value their hard work and success because we believe they are the future of our community. We will continue to support the education and dreams of our youth),” he added.
Councilor Angelu De Leon also said that the honors received by the students are a testament to their perseverance and academic excellence.
Your achievements are not just for yourselves but also for your families, teachers, and the entire city that supports you),” she said.
This is our way to express our gratitude and support for your efforts. May they assist you in your next steps—whether pursuing further studies, starting your career, or embarking on other plans),” she added.
